On Saturday, May 9th, citizens of the Historic Sault Ste. Marie Métis Council gathered at the Powley Institute for a warm and welcoming Mother’s Day Tea celebration. The afternoon brought together citizens of all ages to spend time visiting, sharing stories, and celebrating the important women in their lives in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Guests were treated to a delicious lunch catered by The Soup Witch, featuring a selection of fresh sandwiches alongside a variety of snacks, desserts, and refreshments. In addition to the tea and refreshments, participants also had the opportunity to take part in a creative activity by decorating tote bags and make-up bags. Citizens used fabric paints and markers to design thoughtful handmade gifts for mothers, grandmothers, daughters, friends, and other loved ones.
The Historic Sault Ste. Marie Métis Council would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make the afternoon such a success. Community gatherings like the Mother’s Day Tea continue to strengthen connections between citizens and provide opportunities to celebrate family, culture, and community together.
