Huron-Superior Regional Métis Community Leadership attends Constitution Summit

This past weekend, leadership from the Huron-Superior Regional Métis Community joined Métis Nation of Ontario leaders from across the province in Toronto for a Summit on the proposed Constitution for the Métis Nation of Ontario.
Building on the What We Heard report developed by the MNO Self-Government team through consultations with Métis citizens across Ontario, the Summit was another important step in the ongoing work to develop our Constitution in an open, collaborative, and citizen-focused way.
The meeting also took place on the anniversary of the signing of the historic Métis Government Recognition and Self-Government Agreement between Canada and the MNO on June 27, 2019.
Huron-Superior Regional Métis Community representation included Regional Councillor Mitch Case, North Channel Métis Council Councillor John McLeod, and Historic Sault Ste. Marie Métis Council President Samantha Case. They were joined by former North Channel Métis Council Senator and current PCMNO Senator Donna Grenier, and supported by Regional Manager Samantha Boyer.
We are proud that Huron-Superior Regional Métis Community leadership was part of these important discussions, helping ensure the voices, experiences, and priorities of our region are reflected in this important work for the future of Métis self-government in Ontario.
