Food Security Support Program
SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY
Purpose:
To improve access to nutritious food and reduce food insecurity for eligible Métis citizens and households. The Food Security Support Program is offered through the Huron-Superior Métis Community Support Program.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for this program, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

Be a resident of the Huron-Superior Regional Métis Community (MNO Region 4)

Be a Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Citizen
-
Meet at least one of the following conditions:
-
Have a physical disability or functional limitation that affects daily living
-
Be experiencing demonstrated need (e.g., temporary injury, illness, aging-related limitations, food insecurity, financial hardship)
Priority May Be Given To:
-
Elders
-
Persons with disabilities
-
Single-parent households
-
Individuals recovering from illness or injury
-
Those experiencing food insecurity or isolation
Eligible Supports May Include:
-
Grocery cards or vouchers
-
Access to food pickup points (where applicable)
-
Culturally appropriate food supports where possible
Program Parameters:

Support amounts vary based on household size and demonstrated need

Funding may be issued as:
-
Direct food support
-
Prepaid grocery cards
-
Reimbursement to applicants (with receipts), where appropriate
