North Channel Métis Council Hosts 1st Annual Strawberry Social

On Sunday, June 28th, citizens of the North Channel Métis Council gathered at the Council Office for the first annual Strawberry Social, an afternoon filled with creativity, delicious food, and community connection. The event brought together citizens to celebrate the start of summer while enjoying good company in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.

Before lunch, participants took part in a fun and creative activity by painting flower pots that would soon become home to their own strawberry plants. Citizens enjoyed expressing their creativity with colourful designs and unique decorations, making each pot one of a kind. While the painted pots dried, everyone gathered together to enjoy lunch and spend time socializing.

Guests were treated to a fresh summer lunch featuring an assortment of sandwiches, crisp fruits and vegetables, refreshing strawberry lemonade, and, of course, strawberry shortcakes for dessert.

After the meal, it was time to bring the project to life. Each participant filled their painted pot with fresh potting soil before carefully planting their tiny strawberry seeds. Citizens left with a personalized keepsake to nurture throughout the summer and, with a little patience and care, enjoy the fruits of their labour in the months to come.
