Regional Councillor Case Attends Rideau Hall Reception for Canada’s New Governor General

Regional Councillor Mitch Case attended a reception at Rideau Hall celebrating the installation of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Louise Arbour as Canada’s new Governor General.

Councillor Case attended in his capacity as a member of the Métis National Council Board of Governors, joining national leaders, federal officials, Cabinet Ministers, the Prime Minister, and other invited guests for the occasion.

The reception provided an important opportunity to recognize this significant moment in Canada’s public life while also raising Métis priorities directly with senior federal decision-makers. Councillor Case spoke about the importance of advancing Métis rights, supporting Métis communities across the Homeland, and ensuring that Métis voices continue to be heard in national conversations.

“Gatherings like this are important opportunities to build relationships and remind federal leaders that Métis communities have clear priorities, strong histories, and a vital role in Canada’s future,” said Councillor Case.

The event also offered a chance to strengthen relationships with allies and officials from across the country as the Métis Nation continues its work to advance recognition, reconciliation, and self-determination.
