On Saturday January 31st, at 8:00 pm on all WCMU-NPR stations throughout Central and Northern Michigan (and online at www.radio.wcmu.org) audiences were able to tune into the GREAT LAKES ODYSSEY Radio Hour - The Métis At Baawating program.
On the program was Harry Huskins (Masters in Law, and Masters of Arts Degree in History with a dissertation on Algoma in the 19th century), who gave an account of the Métis At Baawating and what set them apart; and Mitch Case, Councillor for the Huron-Superior Regional Métis Community of the Métis Nation of Ontario and a community-based historian focusing on the history of Ontario Métis communities around the Great Lakes.
The program also featured Amanda Rheaume, songwriter/musician, Citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario, a bearer of history and Métis stories in song, who transmits a message of interconnectedness with her album, The Truth We Hold.
